Patient Code of Conduct.

Our Commitment to You

At Intimate Health, we are dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all our patients. Our physicians and staff are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal health information. We strive to deliver the highest quality of care and ensure your experience with us is a positive one.

You are entitled to feel safe and respected during your visit and in the provision of medical care. At times, we may ask for information or need to perform examinations that are personal and sensitive. You should feel free to ask for clarification and options if they have not already been provided. Sensitivity to your needs will not detract from your care.

Patient Rights and Responsibilities

To help us maintain a safe and positive environment for everyone, we ask that you, our patient, partner with us by adhering to the following Code of Conduct.

Respectful and Safe Behaviour

We have a zero-tolerance policy for abuse. While we appreciate that some people may be under significant stress and duress, we will not tolerate abuse directed at our staff, other patients, or our physicians. This includes threats, foul language, demands, disrespectful comments, accusations, or other forms of unacceptable behaviour. Similarly, we will not tolerate deliberate damage or vandalism of our premises.

Abuse and/or violence may result in protective measures, including calling the police, and will result in discharge from our clinic/practice. Intimate Health reserves the right to cancel services or appointments if patients refuse to abide by this policy.

Appointments and Cancellations

We ask that you notify us immediately if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment so we can make the time available to other patients. While we recognize that emergencies happen, we reserve the right to charge a fee for frequent or unreasonable last-minute cancellations or missed appointments.

Fees: The following fees may be charged:

  • No-Show: $50.

After three no-show appointments, you may run the risk of being discharged from the practice.

How to Cancel: To cancel or reschedule, you must contact the clinic by phone at 780-640-2140 or via email at patientcare@myintimatehealth.ca. Please do not cancel with less than 24-hours notice by email.

Financial Responsibility

The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) provides coverage for medically necessary services from a physician. However, it excludes services that are not considered medically essential, such as the completion of forms, reports, or letters. Payment for these uninsured services is the patient's responsibility, according to our posted Fee Schedule.

While our team is ready to assist you in completing the necessary paperwork for private insurance claims, it is your responsibility to confirm that your benefits cover the service provided by a physician.

Payment Methods: All digital payments can be accepted at the front desk. E-Transfers are also accepted. Please send to info@myintimatehealth.ca.

Teaching and Medical Education

Some of our physicians participate as preceptors and mentors to medical students, medical residents, nursing students, and other learners. We ask for your patience and for you to share your experiences to help better train them as future healthcare providers. If you do not wish to participate, simply let us know, as your wishes will be respected.

Your Health Information

A complete and accurate health history is essential for your medical care.

  • Accuracy: We ask that all answers you provide about your health history are truthful and to the best of your knowledge.

  • Updates: It is your responsibility to keep Intimate Health informed of any significant changes to your health to ensure the accuracy of your medical records.

We are committed to protecting your personal health information according to provincial and federal legislation. Your information is collected primarily for providing and managing your health services.

  • Consent: We require your express written consent to disclose your personal health information to third parties like an employer, school, or insurance company.

  • Access to Records: You may make a formal request to have access to your personal health information records.
